The former interim president of the Bolivia, Jeanine Anezwas sentenced to 10 years in prison for conducting a coup d’etat against its left-wing predecessor Evo Morales in 2019. This was announced by a court in La Paz.
The court of first instance of the Bolivian capital has decided a 10-year prison sentence to be served in the women’s prison in La Paz, three months after the start of the trial and 15 months after the former right-wing head of state was placed in custody.
Anez, 54, was convicted of i crimes of unconstitutional resolutions and negligence of duty. she was tried for her actions as a senator, before she assumed the interim presidency on November 12, 2019. Opponents have accused Morales of having committed fraud in the October elections of that year to secure a fourth consecutive term until 2025.
