Have your say – Barking Riverside Extension to the London Overground

I am delighted that the extension of the London Overground line to Barking Riverside has now been given the green light. This means we can finally get on with building the new homes we desperately need in the Borough, with the right transport links in place for local residents.

Last year TfL consulted on whether or not the extension should be built and an overwhelming 90% of you agreed. The service will operate four trains an hour from Barking station along the existing Tilbury line, and then through a new section of railway, heading South after the railway passes underneath Renwick Road Bridge. The extension will end at a new station in the heart of the Barking Riverside development.

There are now two proposals on which route the train will take from the Tilbury line into the development and TfL want to hear your views.

The Overground extension is a real boost for Barking and Dagenham. We now need to make sure that the new route works for those living in the Borough and that this project has the support of the community behind it. This is your chance to have your say so I really do urge you to respond to this consultation.

You can find the consultation and full details of the proposals here: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/rail/barking-riverside-extension?cid=barking-riverside-consult

Thank you.

Labour

I am extremely humbled and very privileged to be elected for the 6th time to represent Barking and Dagenham in Parliament.

I feel passionately about making our Borough better. Fighting for much needed improvements to our local health service and pushing for decent homes is top of my agenda. I will continue to listen to the issues that really matter to you and respond to your concerns at my regular coffee afternoons and street meetings.

I want to say thank you for re-electing me. I will continue to be your champion in Parliament and I look forward to working for you over the next five years.
